It all started in Wales ....
Like quite a lot of things in life, Steve started singing solo quite by accident. After learning to play percussion for Plymouth Silver Band/Crownhill Royal British Legion Silver Band from 1975 to 1982, Steve left to DJ in the nightclubs in Plymouth. Impressed with the New Wave scene of the early eighties, he taught himself keyboards, finding the transition quite easy as he could already read music.
After playing in several bands (Night People, Clinton, Junkie), Steve moved to Wales and fronted Rock Band GEMINI HATCH. In 2000, his friend and agent was supposed to host a talent show for Brains Breweries for 10 weeks in Cardiff, but was involved in a serious car accident. He called on Steve to step in at last minute to host, telling him to "Sing a couple of songs, tell a few jokes and introduce the acts."
The final night was witnessed by a celebrity panel including Real Radio Presenter CHARLIE POWER and BBC Wales weatherman DEREK BROCKWAY. It was commented by Charlie Power, who was also an entertainment agent and manager of the The Charlie Power Agency in Wales, that he hadn't seen Steve on the circuit before. Before long, Steve's solo career was born, and Steve was entertaining across South Wales as Steve K.
Over ten years later … Steve is still going strong, despite a serious illness in 2008/09 which sidelined him for nearly a year. With a repertoire of over a thousand songs he puts his success down to being part of the audience as opposed to just the entertainer.
