Sadly time to semi-retire .....
As you know Steve underwent major heart surgery four years ago. It took it's toll, and with all the energy that Steve puts into his performances, he has recently had to cut down on the amount of concerts that he performs.
But don't worry! It is only a semi-retirement and he is still around. Just not so much!
Summer Percussion Courses
As a member of the Musician's Union, Steve Kay has been asked to tell you about the English Brass Academy's Summer percussion courses.
New for August 2013 they are offering high quality music training for students, aged 8 -18, which can be seen on the link below. They hope you will forward to anyone you think may be interested.
Chris Nall, performer and educator, has put together an exciting programme for the development of percussion.
Percussion Academy divides participants into mixed ability sections for percussion ensemble, brass group repertoire and sectional skills development. The course will include work on the four main percussion disciplines of Timpani, Tuned Percussion, Snare Drum and Drum Kit.
Based at the magnificent Shrewsbury School & Beechwood Park School, the week-long courses promise to be great fun as well as educational and culminate in a concert for family and friends on the Friday afternoon.
The English Brass Academy team of distinguished performers and educators aim to ensure the best in tuition in a relaxed supportive atmosphere.
Steve Kay will soon release a new album entitled 'Broken Promises'.
The listing for the CD is not finalised as yet, but it will contain several new tracks with music and lyrics written by Steve, together with some classic cover versions.
It is due out in time for Christmas 2013, as it contains several Christmas songs, including the self-penned 'Rise from the Ashes'. So keep an eye on the website for more news!
